Why Harry Maguire left Man United defeat separately from teammates amid argument rumours

Harry Maguire was not involved in an argument before leaving the Manchester United team coach to travel home separately.

Rumours of a potential clash began to spread after Maguire departed Hull‘s MKM Stadium alone, but they have now been quashed.

According to The Sun, sources have confirmed that the Man United defender left the coach as he had a personal issue.

Maguire had been given permission to travel separately from the rest of the squad to deal with the problem at home.

United’s players had a day off on Sunday, so after the game on Saturday afternoon, they were free to travel alone if needed.

The centre-back’s family are from Sheffield, so there is a possibility that he returned there, as it is close to Hull.

Man United’s travel stance

Maguire’s decision to head home separately is not an unexpected thing under the regime of new manager Michael Carrick.

The Sun state that since Carrick’s arrival, players have had the day off after a game, giving them freedom when travelling back.

However, the England international could have struggled to get permission to go home under previous bosses.

When Ruben Amorim was in charge, the Man United squad had recovery sessions at their training ground the day after a match, while that was the same when Erik ten Hag was manager.

Disappointing start to the season

Maguire had to deal with his personal issue after Man United were shocked by Hull at the weekend.

The Red Devils lost 2-0 to the newly-promoted side in their first outing of the new Premier League season.

Carrick would have been hoping to kickstart his first campaign as permanent manager with three points.

But Hull embarrassed United, with first-half goals from Semi Ajayi and Nobel Mendy claiming a huge victory for the club.

The Tigers have even spoken openly about their plans to attack the weaknesses of the giants, which paid off massively.

United sit 16th in the Premier League after their opening game, with Hull in the lofty heights of fourth as things stand.

Maguire and co. will be back in action against Ipswich Town next Sunday, hoping for a much more positive outcome.

Meanwhile, Hull take on Frank Lampard‘s Coventry on Saturday.
