USC 5-star commit shuts door on recruitment rivals with blunt statement
In the world of College Football Recruiting, no commitment is final until a player signs on the line during the signing period. Until then, players can change their minds and flip their commitment. As coaches worry about keeping players on their roster out of the transfer portal, they also have to make sure players who have already committed to the school stay committed. One of those players who could flip his commitment was Honor Fa’Alave-Johnson, who committed to USC.
Now, Fa’alave-Johnson, who originally committed to USC in March, is making another statement about his recruitment, per Hayes Facett of Rivals.
“I want to represent California and I’m ready to be a Trojan,” Fa’alave-Johnson wrote, adding the hashtag “Fight On” in his message.
Fa’alave-Johnson came down to two Big Ten schools and rivals, USC and Oregon. He was also pursued by Texas, LSU, Notre Dame, and Miami. Ultimately, he chose to stay close to home and join the Trojans. Now, he has confirmed that commitment and will not be taking any other visits or having discussions with other universities.
This is another major victory by USC over Oregon. They also poached a 4-star quarterback, Jonas Williams, in the 2026 cycle from Oregon. Then, Tomuhini Topui flipped to USC from Oregon just a month later.
Fa’alave-Johnson is a consensus 5-star recruit, the number one-ranked athlete in the nation, the second-ranked recruit from California, and 18th in the nation. His confirmation keeps USC with 13 recruits so far, which gives them the best class in the Big Ten and the fourth-best class in the nation.
