There’s only 1 way Danny Green would trade Jaylen Brown

As speculation surrounding Jaylen Brown’s future continues, three-time NBA champion Danny Green believes the Boston Celtics should only consider moving the former Finals MVP under one condition. Speaking about Brown’s future in Friday’s edition of NBA Today, Green said Boston should only entertain a trade if it receives another franchise-caliber player in return.

“I think analytics are important, but I’m more of an eye test person. Jaylen Brown is a top 10 player in this league, and if you can’t get another top 10 player or top two top 20 players for him, I think you’re losing out.”

Green doesn’t understand why Brown is being included in trade talks, specifically with a player like Giannis Antetokounmpo off the table.

“Now Giannis is off the table. What are you looking for? Why are we still dangling this guy out here unless you for sure have a certain U-turn or reroute of a person or pieces that make sense? There are teams that we’ll discuss later on, but I just don’t see it.

He added, “Unless somebody else is willing to give up another franchise guy for Boston, why would you break up this duo that has shown that they’ve been successful over the last two or three years?”

Green’s comments come after ClutchPoints senior NBA reporter Brett Siegel reported that the Celtics explored using Brown in trade discussions for Giannis Antetokounmpo before the two-time MVP was ultimately dealt to the Miami Heat.

Despite those conversations, Siegel also reported that Brown has not personally requested a trade from Boston.

“League sources close to the situation told ClutchPoints that Brown has not approached any member of the front office or team president Brad Stevens to ask for a trade.”

While Brown’s name has surfaced in trade rumors throughout the offseason, Boston appears willing to move him only in the right blockbuster scenario.
