Terrion Arnold could participate in Lions training camp despite $1 million bond
The Detroit Lions are in a difficult situation with CB Terrion Arnold. The former first-round pick was arrested on robbery and kidnapping charges last week. Arnold got some good news at a pre-trial hearing on Monday that could allow him to practice with the team this summer.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter shared a positive update on Monday, explaining how Arnold could potential participate in training camp.
“The Tampa court denied the government’s request to hold Lions CB Terrion Arnold without bond, pending trial,” Schefter wrote. “The court set a $1 million bond, and refused to impose an ankle bracelet as a condition of bond, clearing his way to participate in training camp.”
If the court ruled to hold Arnold without bond, he would not have been free to attend training camp. It also would have created serious questions about his availability for the 2026 season.
As Schefter noted, Arnold’s bond was set at $1 million and includes a few important conditions. Arnold cannot have any contact with his co-defendants, or with witnesses in the case, before the trial. He was also forced to surrender his passport and must remain either at work or home.
While it is good news that Arnold could attend training camp, the legal process is far from over in this case. No trial date has been set at this point.
Veteran players like Arnold will report to training camp on July 28th, three days after rookies show up on July 25th. Training camp practice begin on August 2nd and run through August 19th.
It will be interesting to see how Detroit uses Arnold during training camp with this legal situation looming overhead.
