Saturday football tips

Bet of the Day – Liverpool to beat Newcastle @ 3/4

After hitting Qarabag for six in midweek, the sight of Newcastle rocking up at Anfield will be ideal for Liverpool.

The Reds haven’t lost in 18 league games against the Magpies, while the travelling Geordies have watched their side at Anfield 29 times without a win.

Eddie Howe’s side put everything into their midweek draw at PSG and it could leave them undercooked here.

Newcastle have failed to score in six of their 11 away league games this season and, outside of wins at Everton and Burnley, have hit the net just three times in nine on the road.

On league duty, the Reds have scored 18 goals in seven games against Newcastle and they look well placed for a win now.

Bet Builder – Chelsea to beat West Ham, Joao Pedro to Score Anytime, Over 2.5 goals & Chelsea Over 6.5 Corners @ 22/5

Victory over Napoli ensured Chelsea can focus on domestic matters while the Champions League first knockout round is played.

Liam Rosenior has won five of his six games as boss and will look for a hat-trick of Premier League London derby successes as West Ham come calling, following wins over Brentford and Crystal Palace.

The Hammers have won just one of their last 19 league visits to Stamford Bridge and their recent upturn in fortunes is mitigated by the fact Tottenham and Sunderland are right out of form in the league.

Joao Pedro hit a brace in Naples, taking his tally to four goals in his last three starts and will look to add to the goal he scored in Chelsea’s 5-1 August win at the London Stadium.

Chelsea have scored 15 times in four meetings with the Irons, while both teams have scored in five of West Ham’s last six games in league and cup, so goals are on the menu along with corners.

Only Newcastle and Arsenal have taken more corners than Chelsea so far this season and West Ham’s average concern concession in league games is the highest in the league at 6.26.

Acca – Wrexham to beat Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich to beat Preston, Motherwell to beat Livingston & Bournemouth to beat Wolves @ 13/2

Wrexham can kick off this four-game acca in their lunchtime visit to Sheffield Wednesday, the Owls yet to win in 15 Championship attempts at Hillsborough in a torrid season and now without skipper Barry Bannan, who joined Millwall in midweek.

The Welshmen, meanwhile, have climbed into the top-six and are chasing a fourth straight away-day win in the league, with more favourable venues for Phil Parkinson and his Red Dragons.

Also in the Championship, Ipswich can stretch their winning run at Portman Road to seven as they welcome a Preston side fresh off three straight league reverses in which they have failed to even score a goal.

In the Premier League, Wolves’ survival hopes are long since extinguished with 17 losses in 23 games.

Bournemouth endured an 11-game winless run but have taken seven points from nine, beating Tottenham and Liverpool either side of a point at Brighton. The Cherries have won just once from 11 on the road, but have won their last three trips to Molineux.

North of the border, it’s Hearts, Rangers and Celtic in a compelling title race, but Motherwell have lost just three games in 23 in the Premiership under Jens Berthel Askou and a trip to rock-bottom Livingston is very winnable for the Steelmen, the side playing arguably the most attractive football in Scotland.
