Stephen A. Smith admits he was wrong about Knicks to Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson
As All-Star Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart, and the New York Knicks continue to celebrate their 2026 championship victory, ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith can admit he was wrong about his team.
Smith extended his apology to the Knicks fans, organization, and Brunson and Hart, per a live recording of The Roommates’ podcast.
“I’m a grown a** man. I was beyond grown. I apologized to this brother on national television. I’m apologizing to you,” Smith said. “I’m apologizing to the entire Knicks organization. Let me be very, very clear — I have never been more happy to be wrong in my life. Let me be very, very clear — I came out of the womb a Knicks fan. I’m 58-years-old. The last time the New York Knicks won a title before last Saturday, I was four.”

It’s safe to say that Smith would trade in having to apologize to Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart in exchange for a Knicks championship over and over again.
Stephen A Smith apologizes to Knicks’ Jalen Brunson face-to-face

ESPN analyst Stephen A Smith was afraid of the Knicks’ drought would outlast the Cowboys’ 30+ year Super Bowl victory drought. Smith couldn’t imagine having to face Cowboys fans if that were to happen, given how much flak he’s given them for coming up short over the past two decades. He also apologized to Knicks All-Star Jalen Brunson face-to-face.
Smith said sorry to Brunson for doubting his ability to lead the Knicks to a title, per ESPN’s First Take.
“In his own way, he reminds me of this every time. It’s automatic… national television, I owe this man an apology. I am grateful for what you have done for this city, what y’all have done for this city, and you won’t be hearing any more doubts from me, my brother,” Smith said.
"We'll see about that!"
