Manchester United face their toughest test of pre-season yet, as they take on European champions Paris Saint-Germain in Sweden.

Michael Carrick‘s side continued their season’s preparations in Scanadinavia with a positive result on Saturday, beating last season’s Champions League semi-finalists Atletico Madrid 2-1.

After Arnau Ortiz put Atletico ahead on five minutes, Bryan Mbeumo netted a second-half double to earn the Red Devils a comeback win.

This made it back-to-back victories for United in pre-season, who thumped Rosenborg 5-0 after losing their opening game to Championship side Wrexham.

Now, they take their preparations up a notch again, as they head to Gothenburg to face reigning Champions League winners PSG.

This will give fans a real insight into preparations ahead of their first full season under Carrick, whose side are gearing up for their return among Europe’s elite after a third-place Premier League finish.

A strong showing against PSG would be encouraging, who made it back-to-back European glories after victory over Arsenal in May.

Where to watch Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain

This pre-season fixture will be played on Saturday, August 8.

The friendly is going to be played at the Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg, Sweden with kick-off set for 4pm UK time.

Fans will be able to watch the game live from the UK too.

Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain: Team news

Man United are set to have a far more familiar-looking squad for their clash with PSG, as several key faces return to training this week.

Michael Carrick has been leaning heavily on United’s academy for the three matches so far this summer, with 10 youngsters involved in the Atletico Madrid victory.

However, Belgium duo Senne Lammens and new signing Youri Tielemans have since joined up with the squad and this week has also seen four more World Cup stars back at Carrington.

Portugal pair Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Dalot, Brazil’s Matheus Cunha and Morocco’s Noussair Mazraoui have all made their returns.

This leaves England’s Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo, plus Argentina defender Lisandro Martinez as the only remaining players yet to rejoin Carrick’s squad.

As for PSG, their clash with United will be their first pre-season fixture, and a number of their World Cup stars are yet to return.

This includes France stars Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue, as well as Bradley Barcola, who continues to be linked with Liverpool.

Manchester United vs Paris Saint-Germain: What has been said?

Michael Carrick hailed his team after their latest win over Atletico Madrid, insisting they are taking steps in the right direction.

Speaking afterwards, the United boss said: “I enjoyed it, I thought there was a lot of good in things that we are looking to improve on.

“Building on what we did for the last seven months, I think there is a lot of good signs for us, it’s never going to be the exact stage we want to be at.

“But I thought there was really a lot of positives to take out of the game, individual, collectively as a team, senior players looking strong and fit, and the younger players doing really well.”
