Spurs’ Stephon Castle leaves Game 4 vs. Blazers with hand injury scare

The San Antonio Spurs got some tough news on Sunday, during their Game 4 matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers. Spurs guard Stephon Castle left the game with a hand injury.

“Stephon Castle left the game with a left hand injury, according to the broadcast. He’s in the back being evaluated by the Spurs and his return is Questionable,” Clutchpoints reporter Tomer Azarly reported on X, formerly Twitter.

San Antonio currently has a 2-1 lead in this NBA Playoffs series. Castle was able to return to the game in the second half, so the injury wasn’t too serious.

Castle has already had some big games in this series. He scored 33 points for San Antonio in Game 3, which the Spurs won 120-108. He has reached double-figures in each of the first three games of the series.

During the regular season, Castle averaged close to 17 points per game for San Antonio. Castle also averaged 5.3 rebounds and 7.4 assists per game. He is playing in his second full NBA season.

Spurs fans are hoping Castle will have no issue after this injury scare. San Antonio is already banged up as big man and star Victor Wembanyama had to clear concussion protocol before Game 4.

San Antonio can push Portland to the brink of elimination if they win Game 4 on Sunday.

“I think it’s stay focused on us,” said Trail Blazers forward Toumani Camara ahead of Sunday’s game, per NBA.com. “Stay focused on what we need to do, the game plan and who we are and not really worry about outside situations that we cannot really control… So we just got to move past that and keep moving and stay composed throughout the whole game.”

The Spurs are looking to win their first NBA Playoffs series since the 2016-17 season. San Antonio is the no. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
