Shakira, Madonna, BTS to headline FIFA World Cup final halftime show

With just weeks left for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, things got even more exciting. Arguably one of the most watched sporting tournaments in the world, FIFA World Cup finals are known for their opening act; however, with this year’s finals taking place in the USA, FIFA has something different planned.

Taking a similar route to the Super Bowl, FIFA has this year arranged a finals halftime show. As per a report from Global Citizen, Madonna, Shakira, and BTS are scheduled to perform during halftime of the World Cup final.

The 2026 World Cup final is set to take place on Sunday, Jul. 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This will mark the first time FIFA will host a halftime show during the World Cup finals. Also, as per another report by Billboard, the show is expected to last around 11 minutes.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin, along with Elmo, Cookie Monster from Sesame Street, and The Muppets’ Kermit and Miss Piggie, announced the news in a social video. They also face-timed BTS in the promotional video.

“Curated by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and produced by Global Citizen, the show will raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, improving access to quality education and football for children around the world,” read the report by Global Citizen.

 Shakira has a long-running history with FIFA, with her performing the 2010 and 2014 FIFA World Cup songs as well as this year’s “Dai-Dai” FIFA World Cup song with Burna Boy.

Earlier this year, in Jan. 2026, FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced USA President Donald Trump’s special role for the 2026 World Cup final. “This trophy will be handed out on [Jul. 19, 2026] to the captain of the team who will win the World Cup. I will give it together with the President of the United States, the host country. Nobody can touch this trophy.”
