Falcons star Bijan Robinson shares completely honest assessment of Kevin Stefanski so far

Atlanta Falcons star running back Bijan Robinson has been impressed with Kevin Stefanski during the early stages of the head coach’s tenure as the team prepares to begin its preseason schedule.

Robinson discussed Stefanski during a Wednesday appearance on NFL Network with Steve Smith Sr. and Sara Walsh, reflecting on what he has learned from playing under multiple coaching staffs and what has stood out about Atlanta’s new head coach.

“It’s definitely a learning lesson just learning from all three different coaches, obviously different schemes. So, I think for me as a player it helped me a lot just to see how coaches react to players, how coaches run their programs, and run the offenses, defenses – just everywhere around the building.”

Robinson has experienced significant coaching turnover since the Falcons selected him with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Stefanski represents another change for the running back, but Robinson said the new coach has already made a strong impression with his approach to leadership.

“With Kevin being the guy that we have, he’s been great. I know we haven’t played a season game but from what I’ve been seeing so far and how he wants us to be leaders and carry out our leadership and what we’re trying to do for this team is pretty cool. I’m really excited to work with him and I know he’s excited to get out on the field Friday and to start our preseason campaign. It’s cool to see all the guys here accept him and him just lead us the right way.”

Stefanski now gets his first opportunity to lead Atlanta in game action when the Falcons open their preseason against the Denver Broncos on Friday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.

For Robinson, the preseason represents the beginning of a new chapter after spending his first three NFL seasons navigating changes within the organization. The star running back enters his fourth season looking to build on his status as one of Atlanta’s most important offensive players.

While Robinson acknowledged that Stefanski has yet to coach a regular-season game for the Falcons, his early assessment suggests the new coach has already earned the confidence of one of the team’s biggest stars.
