Ronda Rousey reveals fighter’s $40k minimum earning for MVP MMA card
For weeks now, Jake Paul and Ronda Rousey have been constantly trash-talking and bashing Dana White and UFC for their choice of paying their fighters an exceptionally low amount of salary.
With Rousey once going on a no-holds-barred rant against UFC’s salary scheme, she has now revealed how much more efficient and generous Jake Paul’s MVP is when paying fighters. Speaking on Wednesday, Apr. 15, 2026, with Ariel Helwani, Rousey spilled details on MVP’s pay.
On May 16, 2026, at MVP MMA 1, Ronda Rousey will face Gina Carano, while the rest of the card will feature Francis Ngannou vs. Philipe Lins, and Nate Diaz vs. Mike Perry. All six fighters. All of these six fighters will be headlining the show and are reportedly set to be paid huge amounts of money.
Headliner and co-promoter of the event, Rousey also revealed that the other four fights on the card with relatively smaller names will earn a guaranteed sum of $40,000 irrelevant to the match result.
“I think it’s really important that we raise the ceiling, but also that we raise the floor,” Rousey said. “And one thing that is really important in this fight is the absolute minimum that anybody will walk away with — even if they don’t have a big, long record and even if they lose — is $40K.”
“If you fight three times in a year, that’s much more than a living wage, and that’s something the UFC cannot say,” Rousey further added while speaking at the MVP MMA 1 press conference.
MMA fights are costly, and fighters need to maintain expensive training and a diet to keep themselves in peak physical condition. However, while UFC is regarded as the top MMA destination, it still pays its fighters $10,000 to show and $10,000 to win.
Ronda Rousey announces the minimum purse for any fighter on the MVP MMA card will be $40,000.
