Phillies broadcaster rips Padres’ effort after embarrassing season sweep

The Philadelphia Phillies have beaten the San Diego Padres in all six games this season as they continue to just absolutely dominate that ballclub. This one-sided affair began in 2022 when the Padres and Phillies met in the NLCS. Since Game 3 of that series, Philly has won what seems like every game since.

The Padres started the season playing well, but are on the verge of falling below .500 after losing nine of their last 10 games. It’s been an embarrassing stretch of play for the worst offense in the league. The team does not have much leadership, and it’s showing on the field. After the game, the Philadelphia Phillies postgame show ripped into the Padres’ efforts on the field as of late. Even though they couldn’t care less about how the Friars do, Ricky Bottalico was fed up seeing poor play on the diamond.

“I gotta tell ya, that Padres’ team has their heads somewhere else,” Bottalico said. “It is not on the field I know that.” Video provided by James Clark of East Village Times.

The offense has been putrid to watch, even though the defense in the video was poor as well. Nick Castellanos was DFA’d on Wednesday in the city in which he used to play. The numbers rank at the very bottom of the league, and it’s just a shock to see as the team is filled with talent. Manny Machado, Fernando Tatís Jr, Jackson Merrill, and Xander Bogaerts are not doing enough. It’s not a good thing that all four of those players are locked up for the next 5+ years.

Something needs to change quickly.
