Rams GM Les Snead can still hardly believe Aaron Donald ‘dream’ is real

The Los Angeles Rams are in football heaven right now. They already had the perfect offseason: they retained most of their key pieces on both sides last year and acquired two players to bolster their biggest weakness on defense. Then, they made an upgrade at defensive end, trading a top-10 player at the position in Jared Verse for the best player at that position in Myles Garrett. It seemed like the Rams could do no wrong this offseason.

And then, they revealed that their offseason activities were not done. The Rams have re-signed pass rusher Aaron Donald. The greatest defensive tackle of his generation and an all-time legend, Donald will join a defense that now has the top pass-rusher in the league Garrett, a top-five cornerback in Trent McDuffie, and a defense that allowed the 10th-least points in the league last season.

If you can’t believe what’s happening to the Rams right now, you’re not alone. Even members of the Rams organization can hardly believe their luck… including general manager Les Snead.

“Like I said, our plans were set,” Snead said on a radio appearance. “And then Aaron decides to come back… He is in the Rams’ Mount Rushmore. He did want to play. So I don’t think we ever dreamed about it, but once it, all of a sudden it skipped the dream stage and it was a reality.”

Of course, with great power comes great pressure, and the pressure is on the Rams to win the Super Bowl again this year. They are considered as the runaway favorites to win it all this year. Their offense alone, led by the reigning MVP, a top-three (at worst) wide receiver in the league, and one of the best offensive minds in the league is enough to make them a contender. Add their incredible defense to the mix, and they should be near-impossible to stop.

That being said, we’ve seen strong superteams like this falter before. Can the Rams fully turn this dream scenario into a fairy-tale ending?
