Clemson coach Dabo Swinney rips fake stories about Lane Kiffin snitching on Ole Miss with tampering intel

Clemson is preparing for a Week 1 game against Lane Kiffin and LSU. This offseason, Dabo Swinney took issue with Kiffin’s former employer. Swinney has accused Ole Miss of tampering with former Clemson player Luke Ferrelli.

As Swinney and Kiffin get ready to face off, the Clemson coach had to address a rumor about the opponent coach, per Chapel Fowler of The State Newspaper.

The rumor was that it was Kiffin who gave Clemson the information that Ole Miss was tampering with Ferrelli and that Kiffin encouraged Swinney to turn it in.

“I literally just heard this 45 seconds ago, so appreciate you asking about that. Here’s what I would say about that, and be very clear on that. Lane Kiffin had nothing to do with I mean, zero to do with me turning in the tampering situation here at Clemson. Zero,” Swinney said. “People can make up whatever stories they want”

There have been plenty of stories about the exit of Kiffin from Ole Miss, from him trying to poach players, to not being allowed to coach in the playoffs, and then Pete Golding having the facility swept for bugs left by the former coach.

“Lane, after you know the kid left and all that, he certainly reached out,” Swinney said. “And honestly, I had a lot of coaches reach out, with a lot of hearsay and stuff like that. I got one issue. If you tamper with my program, I’m going to turn you in, and it’s just that simple,” Swinney said. “Lane Kiffin had nothing to do with that, zero. I was turning that in the moment he left.”

LSU and Clemson are set to kick off at 7:30 pm ET on Saturday.
