Von Miller reveals what Cowboys are really paying him for in 2026
Dallas Cowboys linebacker Von Miller may have lost a step or two, but he will be an invaluable part of the team because of his experience and leadership.
Miller will likely come off the bench in his 16th season, similar to his role with the Washington Commanders and the Buffalo Bills. Not that he has a problem with it.
The former Super Bowl MVP will be a respected voice in the locker room, and he acknowledged that he should set an example with his work ethic and team-first mentality.
“They’re not paying me for what I do on the football field. If I go out there and get eight sacks, 10 sacks, I’m way underpaid. They’re paying me, and my contract is what it is to be the locker room guy. To be a great teammate,” said the 37-year-old Miller on his podcast.
“They’re paying me to be on the team to be the best teammate I could be and help these guys with whatever it may be, kind of bring some of that Super Bowl culture that I’ve been a part of my whole career. Everywhere I went, I won, except with the Washington Commanders.”
#Cowboys Von Miller gets candid about the role he’ll be playing this year in Dallas:

He signed a one-year contract with the Cowboys worth $5.5 million.
The two-time Super Bowl champion mentioned former NFL star Demarcus Ware, who took Miller under his wing when they played together on the Denver Broncos. Miller said he learned a lot from Ware’s guidance and now he is trying to do the same in Dallas.
“I get to go to the Dallas Cowboys, work with all the young guys, kind of pay all the information that he (Ware) gave me forward. It’s been super cool. It’s something I naturally do,” said Miller.
Last season, Miller played a career-high 17 games, tallying 26 total tackles, including six tackles for loss, and nine sacks.
