Browns’ Catherine Hickman gets roasted over answer to QB trade speculation
The Cleveland Browns have four quarterbacks—Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Taylen Green, and Dillon Gabriel—on the 53-man roster. While the hierarchy has been settled, with Watson getting the nod to start, it has not stopped some from speculating that a trade could be in the offing.
While it is not entirely unusual for a team to have four quarterbacks, it might be logical for the Browns to flip one of them for a key contributor rather than merely stashing him.
When Catherine Hickman, Cleveland’s assistant general manager, was asked if they had received an offer, she appeared to duck the question.
“Uh, not that I will comment on,” said Hickman in a media conference.
Fans were not happy with her response.
“Who decides she should be put in front of the press?” asked @JayyBiird15.
“This is your assistant GM. An idiot wearing a ‘Los Angeles Made Me Do It’ sweatshirt with knife cuts all over it. This franchise is such a joke,” said @TheRyanStanko.
“Jesus Christ, take the mic away from her,” added @JabroniFromCLE.
“I never need to hear from her again,” wrote @JoeMers.
“Is she the assistant GM or the GM’s Assistant?” commented @WillofthePeepo.
“I really could be an NFL GM at this rate, after seeing this,” stated @rapidreactionz.
After a four-year stint with the Philadelphia Eagles as operations coordinator and vice president of football operations, Hickman was hired by the Browns in 2022. She helped facilitate the trade of Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and draft capital in June.
Hickman’s remark could prove to be cryptic, as Sanders and Gabriel are rumored to be on thin ice.
