Ex-WWE star shows off 3-week weight training progress after God of War casting
Following his casting as Kratos in the God of War series, former WWE star Dave Bautista is looking shredded, as he has begun weight training.
He took to Instagram to share an update on his progress. Three weeks into training, he is ripped, and it’s only about eight more weeks until he’s “where I need to be.”
Bautista, who has always been in great shape, compared getting back into weight training to “ridin[g] a bike.” With a few more weeks, he will look better than ever.
WWE legend Dave Bautista’s casting in God of War series
In August 2026, Bautista was officially cast in the upcoming God of War series, replacing Ryan Hurst after months of speculation following his exit.
The God of War series is being developed by Prime Video by Ronald D. Moore. It will star Bautista, Callum Vinson, Teresa Palmer, and Max Parker.
Of course, it is an adaptation of the popular PlayStation video game series of the same name. Originally, Hurst was set to play Kranos, but he would exit the production after suffering an injury in June 2026.
Bautista is no stranger to acting. He gained fame for his career in WWE under the ring name Batista, but he started acting at the height of his popularity in the company.
He started his acting career with small roles in projects like House of the Rising Sun, The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption, and Riddick.
His breakthrough came in 2014, when he starred in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy as Drax the Destroyer. He would subsequently reprise the role in two sequels and two Avengers movies (Infinity War and Endgame).
Additionally, he gained more notoriety with roles in the James Bond movie Spectre, Blade Runner 2049, My Spy, and Dune. His other recent credits include Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and Knock at the Cabin.
