Former WWE star teases in-ring return after 4 years
In the past year, several professional wrestlers have retired from the sport. Last year in Dec. 2025, John Cena retired from professional wrestling, which was then soon followed by Hiroshi Tanahashi, AJ Styles, and Brock Lesnar. However, while wrestlers are getting old and retiring from the sport, a former WWE Superstar recently teased their comeback.
Recently, former WWE star Summer Rae [Danielle Moinet] shared a couple of stories on her Instagram. The first Instagram story showed her pulling up her boots and fixing her in-ring gear. It was followed up by a second story, where she showed herself geared up and proceeded to pose in front of the camera. While not confirmed, the posts soon went viral on the internet as fans believed Rae was teasing her comeback.
Rae consistently stated she was open to returning, but she’s been quiet lately. This post suggests she’s ready to compete again. The posts come just hours after former WWE Women’s Champion and Corey Graves’ wife Carmella seemingly confirmed her in-ring retirement.
Rae signed with the Stamford-based promotion in 2011. She began her career in WWE’s developmental territory, FCW, which then became NXT in 2012. Shortly after, she made her main roster debut in 2013 as the dance partner of Fandango and allied with him until 2014. Following this, she was involved in a few other alliances with other WWE Superstars. Her last WWE match dates back to 2016, following which she wrestled two matches for BCW in 2019. She later returned for the WWE Women’s Royal Rumble in 2022, which still remains her last in-ring bout.
