Jaguars share fresh images of $1.4bn stadium as owner touts ‘one of a kind’ NFL renovation

Construction is under way on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ stadium of the future, and the team will open their season in front of a limited capacity for fans on September 13.

The Jaguars host the Cleveland Browns in Week 1, where the upper bowl of EverBank Stadium will be closed off due to $1.4 billion renovation work.

Jacksonville will play six games with a capacity capped at 42,500 in 2026, before departing for a season at Orlando’s Camping World Stadium in 2027.

It’s fair to say the ongoing work at EverBank Stadium is a bit of an eyesore, but Jags fans will have plenty to look forward to once it’s done.

Jaguars release new renders for Stadium of the Future

Ahead of the new NFL season, the team has released 10 new renders to give fans a peek into what to expect come 2028.

New images show what the inside and outside of a renovated EverBank Stadium will look like, with views of entrances, concourses and even sideline lounges and bars teased.

In various renders, the new roof canopy, and massive video boards, can be seen.

Jaguars president Mark Lamping recently revealed that a number of construction milestones have been met, with many more to come.

“Getting the demolition done and then getting it back up to play the season was a big one,” he told the Jacksonville Florida Times-Union.

“The next big one that our fans can see as they go through the season is when the steel structure supporting the roof is complete.

“That should be the first quarter of next year. There’s no question it gets you excited.

“It’s also an affirmation that you’re on schedule.”

Jaguars president talks up ‘one of a kind’ stadium project

While the Jaguars have asked for patience with their project, and want fans to be prepared when they arrive on game day.

Even with the work ongoing, 27,000 fewer seats and heavy equipment and cranes around the building, the team insists the fan experience won’t be much different to last year.

“This is one of a kind, not only the re-imagination of it, the scale and scope of it, but the fact we’re playing a season in the middle of construction,” Lamping explained, during a recent Jaguars preseason broadcast.

“It’s never enough time, but it’s always just what you need. There will be a lot of hard work. With this project, there are surprises around every corner.

“You need outstanding people leading this… it’s been an unbelievable job to get this place ready.”

Following a Week 1 game against the Browns at EverBank Stadium, the Jaguars hit the road for a trip to the Denver Broncos.

Week 3 sees the team return to Jacksonville to close out September with a home game against the New England Patriots.
