Hibs head into their home debut as marginal favourites for victory tonight against their fiercest rivals, which they head into having won their last three domestic matches following their 2-1 win over Dundee on Sunday afternoon.

David Gray’s side have lost just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, a run which includes a victory away from home against Rangers and a draw in Belgium against Gent in their Conference League play off round, a tie in which the Scottish side were minutes away from progressing to the league phase from before conceding twice in the home second in leg in the final six minutes.

The Hibees currently sit seventh in the Scottish Premiership table after winning their last two league games, and know that victory over their arch rivals tonight will take them into the top three.

Wouter Vrancken’s side took a while to get going under the new management of the Belgian, losing their first four matches of the campaign but have since strung together a nice unbeaten run including four goal winning margins against Dundee United and Inverness.

Last week saw the club beat Rapid Vienna on penalties away from home to qualify for the Conference League league phase, as well as get the better of St Johnstone in the league which leaves them with two wins from their three league matches, and ahead of their local rivals on goal difference ahead of tonight’s match.

Hearts have won three of the last four Edinburgh derbies, including each of the last two ahead of tonight’s which will be Vrancken’s first taste of the rivalry, while Gray hold at 3-3 record from his seven matches against Hearts as manager.
