Lando Norris gives huge career update as post racing plans become clearer

Lando Norris is going beyond simply racing for Formula 1 glory – the reigning world champion is now keen to develop the stars of tomorrow.

The McLaren driver has launched LN4 Fusion, a new junior single-seater team designed to help young drivers climb the motorsport ladder, alongside the LN4 Legacy Programme, a fully funded driver-development programme.

And Norris isn’t just putting his name on the project.

The 26-year-old has confirmed that he is personally investing in the programme, with the aim of removing some of the financial barriers that can prevent talented drivers from reaching the top of motorsport.

This is particularly significant in a sport where money can play a huge role in a driver’s progression.

LN4 Fusion will begin competing in Italian Formula 4, Regional European Championships and FIA Formula 3, with the organisation also hoping for a future in F2. The team has acquired selected assets from AIX Racing to help establish its F3 operation for 2027.

But Norris’ ambitions go much further than simply putting cars on the grid.

The Brit knows exactly how important development programmes can be. Norris progressed through the junior categories before reaching F1 with McLaren in 2019, eventually becoming world champion in 2025.

The project will be led by experienced motorsport figures, including René Rosin, who previously worked with the hugely successful Prema organisation, while former Prema technical director Guillaume Capietto will take on the role of racing director.

The timing is also interesting.

Just days after committing his own F1 future to McLaren until at least the end of 2030, Norris has effectively committed himself to another long term motorsport project outside the Formula 1 paddock.

For Norris, this isn’t about preparing for a life outside of Formula 1.
It is about creating the next generation before they even reach the paddock.

Lando Norris has come a long way since first climbing into a kart at just seven years old, quickly making a name for himself as one of motorsport’s brightest young talents.

What followed was a steady rise through F1 ranks, with Norris picking up his first Grand Prix victory in Miami 2024.

He is no stranger to pressure, having claimed his first Formula 1 World Championship with McLaren in 2025.

The 26 year old Brit has had to work hard to defend that crown this season, with Mercedes dominating much of the opening half of the campaign.

But Norris has found his form at the perfect time.

The McLaren star took his first victory of the 2026 season in Hungary, before making it back to back wins at Zandvoort in the Dutch Grand Prix.

Those victories have lifted Norris to 159 points, leaving him fourth in the Drivers’ Championship as he heads into this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

He still faces a huge 83 point gap to championship leader Kimi Antonelli, but his recent run has put the title fight firmly back on the agenda.

And with McLaren bringing upgrades to Monza, Norris will be hoping his late season charge is only getting started.
