Panthers’ Dave Canales gushes about Cardinals’ Carson Beck following classic Hall of Fame Game
Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Beck turned a lot of heads with his play Thursday night. Even the opposing side had great things to say about him, with Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales giving the former Miami Hurricanes star quarterback his flowers following the NFL Hall of Fame Game at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.
“He operated like a professional. He looked fantastic. He was accurate. He was on time,” Canales said of Beck after the Panthers’ thrilling 33-30 victory (h/t Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press).
“Our rush was decent. He got the ball out, threw some really beautiful passes down the field, up the sideline on some double moves, over the middle, to keep the drive alive in some third-down situations so tip my hat to him.”
The 23-year-old Beck consistently found his targets in the game, going 15-of-19 for 188 passing yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions. He was sacked once for a loss of two years and rushed twice for three rushing yards.
Although Beck was facing mostly backups and third-stringers in the game, his performance was enough to garner a ton of attention, and perhaps narrow the gap as well between him and Jacoby Brissett, who is currently considered the top option under center for the Cardinals.
As for Carolina, the Panthers also got a great performance from undrafted rookie signal-caller Haynes King, who went 21-of-34 for 180 passing yards and two touchdowns with zero picks thrown, while also rushing in the game-winning touchdown.
