Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith confirms wild $10 million rumor

Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith became linked to a wild $10 million NCAA portal rumor in April. Smith refused to enter the College Football Transfer Portal, though, in confirming the rumbling Wednesday.

Smith indeed heard from other universities once the 2025 season ended.

“It was different types of programs coming at me,” Smith said to reporters during Big Ten Media Days. “But I never really thought about leaving Ohio State. I always wanted to be at Ohio State.”

The Miami native Smith dove further with believing Columbus is home.

“It’ll be dumb for me to leave Ohio State to go to another team when I have the best offensive line in the country, the best quarterback in the country and the best coaches in the country,” Smith said. “That would’ve been a stupid move by me to go somewhere else.”

Smith now earns a chance to deliver new accolades in the scarlet and gray. Including earning a unprecedented third straight Big Ten Receiver of the Year award. He can also land on the All-Conference First Team for a third straight season as well.

Smith continues to solidify his case as a legendary wideout for a program producing so many receiver icons. He arrived ready to replace Marvin Harrison Jr. then later teamed with Emeka Egbuka and Carnell Tate. Now Smith is the elder statesman in the receiver room.

But Smith is dialed in one going after another pivotal goal: Ohio State winning the national title, especially after falling to Miami early last season in the College Football Playoffs.
