Brandon Aiyuk complains about not getting paid, sends another message to Commanders

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk continues to air his frustrations with the organization as his contract dispute shows no signs of ending. On Tuesday, Aiyuk took to his Instagram Stories to question how the 49ers have maintained contractual control over him after voiding $30 million in guaranteed bonus money from his contract.

“Players sacrifice their health and career to secure long term contracts that guarantee compensation,” Aiyuk wrote before questioning the definition of a guaranteed contract.

“How can a team void the $ that is ‘guaranteed’ and agreed upon yet still have contractual control? That allows for owners to void guarantees whenever they don’t feel like paying large bonuses, while still keeping a player under contract.”

Aiyuk said the 49ers have still not paid him despite the contract remaining in effect.

“49ers voided $30m dollars in guaranteed Bonus money that should have been paid out to me already. With that money being voided the contract should be as well.”

He added, “There’s no way in the year 2026 they tryna keep contractual control yet haven’t paid me any money in 500 days!! This would be the team to do some shit like this though.”

Aiyuk also questioned why the organization kept the reason for the voided guarantees private for months.

“If there was a real reason for the VOID, they wouldnt have needed to keep it a secret for months! #FREEYUKE.”

The latest social media posts come just weeks after Aiyuk declared that his relationship with the 49ers was “permanently damaged,” saying he no longer expects to repair things with the organization. He previously said he would not return to the team’s facility except for San Francisco’s scheduled October 19 matchup against the Washington Commanders.

Aiyuk has also made no secret of where he hopes to play next. In the series of story posts, he publicly wished the Commanders good luck at training camp while continuing to push for a move to Washington, where he would reunite with former Arizona State teammate and Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels.

The contract dispute stems from the 49ers’ decision to void the remaining guaranteed money in Aiyuk’s contract after alleging he failed to participate in team-directed rehabilitation following the ACL, MCL and meniscus injuries he suffered during the 2025 season. The dispute escalated after Aiyuk stopped reporting to the team and was placed on the reserve/left squad list in December 2025.
