Michael B. Jordan’s latest directorial effort receives major LeBron James praise

Michael B. Jordan has transformed his Hollywood success into something much bigger than a dominant acting run. After directing “Creed III” and winning an Oscar for “Sinners,” Jordan will now tackle a familiar story with “The Thomas Crown Affair.”

LeBron James already sounds ready to watch it.

“Let’s goooooo bro!!” James wrote on his Instagram Story, adding a salute emoji. The new Philadelphia 76ers star kept his reaction short, but his excitement delivered a significant endorsement for Jordan’s next ambitious project.

Jordan will direct the remake while starring as Thomas Crown, a wealthy art thief who develops a romance with the insurance investigator assigned to examine his crimes, IndieWire reports. The dual role allows Jordan to combine the two sides of his career that have flourished during the 2020s.

Michael B. Jordan Brings His Vision to a Classic

Norman Jewison introduced audiences to the character in 1968, with Steve McQueen playing Crown. John McTiernan revisited the story in 1999, placing Pierce Brosnan in the lead role and shifting the central crimes from bank robberies to stolen artwork.

Jordan now gets an opportunity to reshape the smooth, thrill-seeking criminal for a new era.

Drew Pearce wrote the upcoming film, which also features Adria Arjona, Kenneth Branagh, Lily Gladstone and Danai Gurira. Jordan’s connection to the remake stretches back to 2016, when MGM initially selected him to star following the success of “Creed.”

The project changed after Amazon acquired MGM, while Jordan’s involvement expanded beyond the leading role. A decade after first joining the remake, he will finally bring his own interpretation to the screen, with James cheering him on.
