Noah Hanifin, Brayden McNabb miss Golden Knights Stanley Cup Final practice
Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final was nothing short of an instant classic, resulting in a 5-4 double overtime victory for the Vegas Golden Knights over the Carolina Hurricanes. Vegas initially led 4-0 thanks to a Mitch Marner hat trick, but the Hurricanes mounted a historic comeback effort in the third period, knotting the score before the Golden Knights eventually escaped with a win.
For practice on Monday, the Golden Knights were considerably shorthanded, as both Nhah Hanifin and Brayden McNabb were not on the ice with the rest of their teammates.
“Noah Hanifin and Brayden McNabb are not on the ice for practice today,” SinBinVegas reported on X, formerly known as Twitter.
McNabb, who was struck in the face by a slapshot from Hurricanes forward Nikolaj Ehlers in the second period of Game 2, played Game 3 while wearing a full cage on his helmet. He was second overall in total ice time behind only teammate Shea Theodore, who scored the double-overtime game-winning goal. McNabb also picked up an assist on the goal.
So far in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, McNabb has scored once while adding six assists. He’s also posted a plus-10 rating while averaging 19:59 of ice time per game. He also has 33 blocked shots this postseason after posting a team-high 142 blocked shots during the regular season in 63 games.
Hanafin, a former Hurricanes defenseman, has skated in 19 games so far in the postseason for the Golden Knights and has seven assists along with a plus-three rating. He’s also averaged 23:36 of ice time per game.
Game 4 between the Golden Knights and Hurricanes will be played Tuesday evening.
