Nick Suzuki’s ‘excited’ message on Game 6 in front of ‘crazy’ Canadiens fans
The Montreal Canadiens defeated the Buffalo Sabres in Game 5 of their second-round series. Juraj Slafkovsky came up big for the Habs on the road to help this team secure the win. With this win, captain Nick Suzuki, Slafkovsky, and their teammates will have the chance to eliminate Buffalo on Saturday night.
Buffalo and Montreal have proven themselves to be some of the best playoff atmospheres this postseason. However, playing in Montreal is like nothing else. Hockey was born in the city, and the sport is ingrained in the city’s culture. With such high stakes, Suzuki cannot wait to skate in front of those rabid fans.
“The city is already pretty crazy,” the Canadiens captain said, via NHL.com. “We saw against Tampa, it takes a lot to close out a team. And we have another opportunity to do that. I’m sure the crowd is going to be into it hours before the game starts and it’s going to be rocking. We’re ready for that, excited for the opportunity to close it out.”
Suzuki, of course, is referring to the team’s first-round series with the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was a series that will go down as an instant classic. Every game was decided by a single goal, and the Habs won the series in seven games.
The Canadiens could have ended it earlier, though. They had the chance to eliminate the Lightning on home ice in Game 6. Unfortunately for them, Gage Goncalves scored an overtime winner to force a Game 7 back in Tampa Bay.
Montreal would certainly like to avoid a repeat of this against the Sabres. At the same time, they know Buffalo will bring everything it has on Saturday night in Game 6 to preserve its season.
