NFL rumors: Adam Schefter sets firm draft floor on Jeremiyah Love
Everything is set for the much-anticipated NFL Draft on Thursday at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh. Well, everything except the landing spots of the blue-chip prospects.
Among them is Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, who is widely projected as a top-10 pick. He is being linked to the Arizona Cardinals at No. 3, the Tennessee Titans at No. 4, and the Washington Commanders at No. 7.
Commanders coach Dan Quinn has hinted at targeting Love, who would instantly bolster the team’s middling offense.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter has repeatedly mentioned the possibility of the Commanders getting the 20-year-old Love. On his podcast, Schefter also maintained that the Unanimous All-American might hear his name get called earlier.
“If somehow, Jeremiyah Love, which I know longer think (it’s happening), slides down that far, that would be his floor. (Number) seven. Not getting past seven. But I think right now, he’s looking at three or four, frankly,” said Schefter.
Last month, Schefter had to clarify his report about Love after fans of the Commanders misconstrued it.
“I also know that Washington has been in the running back market. We’ve got a great player. There’s a real chance he (Love) may get past (number) four, five, and six. If that real great player gets past four (through six), wouldn’t it make sense to take him at seven?” explained Schefter.
Love rushed for 1,372 yards and 18 touchdowns in his third year at Notre Dame, further boosting his stock in the NFL Draft. He also logged 27 receptions for 280 yards and three touchdowns.
Getting him at No. 7 would be a steal for the Commanders, who could pair Love with quarterback Jayden Daniels for a dangerous one-two punch.
