NBA rumors: Marc Stein claims Celtics have ‘real shot’ at Giannis Antetokounmpo trade
With the ambiguity surrounding Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, it seems he has taken the NBA hostage. It has been reported that the majority of the teams are waiting to see what will happen to Antetokounmpo before plotting their next move.
But at this point, it has largely remained a guessing game, with Antetokounmpo staying out of the spotlight and the Bucks not divulging anything new.
Some experts believe that the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics are the only frontrunners to land the two-time MVP, as other squads have supposedly bowed out. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Celtics improved their chances, with the Bucks becoming more flexible.
“One league source, after this story was published, told The Stein Line that the Celtics managed to emerge from the weekend ‘with a real shot’ to win this race with a Jaylen Brown-centric offer, adding that Milwaukee has considered going ahead with a Boston swap even without a third-team facilitator,” wrote Stein on his Substack.
A rumor has gotten around regarding a three-team trade involving the Bucks, the Celtics, and the Los Angeles Clippers, with Antetokounmpo going to Boston, Brown going to Los Angeles, and Milwaukee receiving the Clippers’ No. 5 pick in this week’s NBA Draft.
Stein, however, nuked it, and he was proven correct, now that the Bucks are open to dealing Antetokounmpo even without a third team. He noted that the Celtics could add the No. 7 pick in the upcoming draft to sweeten the deal.
“The Celtics, like Miami, would naturally be asked to add players and future draft compensation to the ultimate trade construction. Sources say that the Bucks have interest in Boston’s prized young Spanish guard Hugo Gonzalez,” added Stein.
As for the Heat, they are offering Tyler Herro, Kel’el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the No. 12 pick in the talent-laden NBA Draft.
