NBA rumors: Charlotte TV guy claims Hornets are pursuing Jaylen Brown after LaMelo Ball trade
The Charlotte Hornets pulled off the second biggest blockbuster trade of the offseason following the Miami Heat’s acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo, and they might not be done yet. After sending LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Hornets have reportedly turned their attention to pursuing a trade for Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown, as per Charlotte TV personality Mike Lacett.
After the Celtics failed pursuit of Antetokounmpo, it is believed that Jaylen Brown is indeed available in trade talks this offseason, and he would fit in well as the Hornets’ star centerpiece in the aftermath of Ball’s departure. Multiple teams have been linked to Brown, although the five-time All-Star has reportedly not asked for a trade from the only franchise he’s ever known.
From the Hornets’ side of things, it would be interesting to see what they would part with in a Brown deal. It’s been rumored that the Celtics are asking for quite a haul from teams interested in dealing for the former No. 3 overall pick, including multiple first round picks.
The Hornets are looking to continue taking steps forward in the Eastern Conference following their first winning season in five years. Although they did not make the postseason courtesy of their play-in loss to the Orlando Magic, there was reason for optimism among the fanbase.
The absence of Ball will hurt, but the Hornets addressed their need for a starting center with the acquisition of Naz Reid in the trade, and they re-signed Coby White as their starting point guard.
