NBA rumors: Bill Simmons thinks Bucks will trade Giannis Antetokounmpo to Heat during Finals

The 2026 NBA Finals have been electric through three games. The New York Knicks are up 2-1 on the San Antonio Spurs, and the road team has won each matchup in thrilling fashion thus far. The Knicks vs. Spurs battle, which has been defined by gritty and physical play, has surely served as motivation for teams trying to take the next step toward contention. Giannis Antetokounmpo is the top name on the trading block, and after a rollercoaster of a relationship with the Milwaukee Bucks in recent years, this seems like the offseason that the two-time MVP is finally traded.

Plus, these NBA Finals are only increasing the Greek Freak’s trade value, as he is a physical specimen with immense defensive talent and an NBA Finals victory to his name, who seems tailor-made for the modern scope of playoff basketball. ClutchPoints’ Brett Siegel has already reported that an Antetokounmpo trade to the Miami Heat is the most likely outcome, and Bill Simmons seems to agree. The podcaster known for creating The Ringer is convinced that Antetokounmpo will be dealt by the end of the week.

“I feel like there’s going to be a big trade soon,” Simmons started. “Like Giannis, I don’t think that gets super close to the draft. My guess is if there’s a big trade, it’d probably be after Game 4, before Game 5. I think the league likes to clear out the first four games of the finals, and it’s kind of a wink-wink with the teams. I feel like if there’s a big trade, it’s closer to the end of this week. Milwaukee having a chance to get [picks] 10 and 13, not to mention the other Miami guys, that’s not bad in this draft.”

A trade package from Miami would likely not only include their lottery pick, but players like Tyler Herro and Jaime Jaquez Jr, and perhaps even more draft capital. Being that the 2026 season is still underway, a deal can’t be made official until after the NBA Finals, but an agreement on an Antetokounmpo trade could happen in the coming days.
