Mets’ Francisco Lindor drops ‘shocked’ admission after Carlos Mendoza firing
As the New York Mets officially fired manager Carlos Mendoza, it marked another step in what has been a disappointing season thus far for the ball club. While rumors will continue to swirl around the Mets regarding the next moves for the franchise, star Francisco Lindor would give his honest reaction to Mendoza’s firing.
The two had been in New York together since Mendoza was hired in late 2023 to be the manager, but fast forward to now, the team made the decision to let go of him due to an underwhelming 2026 campaign. Lindor would admit that he “was shocked” and that the news “hurts.”
“He’s a great man, he’s a great family man, and somebody that we appreciate, we care for him, and yeah, it was shocking news. But obviously, this is a decision to Stearns and the rest of the organization felt like it was going to be best for the organization at the moment,” Lindor, via SNY.

There is no denying that with the expectations put on the Mets before this season, seeing the team last in the NL East and at a 34-47 record is probably the last thing the fanbase thought would happen. Lindor would send a message to New York fans, telling them to “stick with us.”
“We haven’t performed to the way we’re supposed to be performing. We’re going to continue to fight day in and day out. The season is not over. And we have, like I said, a responsibility, and that’s to win as many games as we can, and I appreciate your support, and yeah, this sucks, but it is on us to turn it around,” Lindor said, via SNY.

It remains to be seen if Lindor and the Mets can turn the year around.
