Mets’ Carson Benge isn’t adding any pressure to his 1st Subway Series

Certainly, with the Subway Series between the New York Mets and the New York Yankees getting underway for the first game of the series on Friday, there’s no denying that the two fan bases will be rowdy. Consequently, as there will always be debates with the Mets and the Yankees, Carson Benge will give his thoughts on playing in his first Subway Series.

The 23-year-old would be asked ahead of the start of the series what it will be like to face the Yankees, as he took more of a mellow approach with his answer, according to SNY Mets.

“I feel like they’re one of the better teams in the league. To be able to go out there and compete is always fun. Doesn’t really matter who it’s against. Treat everyone the same,” Benge said.

If there’s one thing for certain, many fans have the Subway Series circled on their calendars, as Mets manager Carlos Mendoza spoke about the “playoff atmosphere” that will be present.

“Just fun, feels like a playoff atmosphere. It’s electric, it’s loud. You got two fan bases going at it, you know, every pitch is going to be loud. You know, one fan base is going to celebrate a pitch, a hit, a play. The other one is not going to be so happy. It is that back and forth, a lot of good players out on the field, and they’re always fun,” Mendoza said, via SNY Mets.

So far this season with New York, Benge has recorded a .237 batting average to go along with three home runs and 13 RBIs, as it remains to be seen who will come out on top between the Yankees and Mets.
