Mets announces 2 roster moves before Marlins clash

The New York Mets continued reshaping their pitching staff Saturday as the organization announced two additional roster moves before the second game of its series vs. the Miami Marlins. The Mets recalled right-hander Jonathan Pintaro from Triple-A Syracuse while optioning rookie Zach Thornton following his recent major league debut.

The latest roster decisions also connect to the broader pitching situation surrounding Kodai Senga’s recovery process. Senga officially began a rehab assignment Friday with Single-A St. Lucie, creating optimism that another experienced starter could soon return to the Mets’ rotation.

Saturday’s moves reflected both urgency and long-term planning from the Mets front office. The team currently sits at the bottom of the National League East and continues searching for stability throughout the pitching staff as the organization works to stop its recent slide entering the middle portion of the season.
