Usain Bolt joins Premier League legends on Manchester squad list
Usain Bolt may soon trade the track for the pitch once again, this time alongside a collection of recognizable Premier League names.
The Football Association’s Full-Time platform lists the eight-time Olympic gold medalist on the roster for Wythenshawe FC Veterans, per The Guardian. The Greater Manchester club competes in the Cheshire Veterans League, although Bolt’s appearance on the website does not guarantee that he will play.
Former Manchester City midfielder Stephen Ireland manages a squad featuring Danny Drinkwater, Antonio Valencia, Emile Heskey, Joleon Lescott, Marc Albrighton, Nedum Onuoha and Papiss Cisse. Together, last season’s group brought more than 1,800 Premier League appearances to the Sunday league level.

Bolt never abandoned his football dream
The Jamaican superstar retired from sprinting after the 2017 World Championships, leaving the sport as the record holder in both the 100-meter and 200-meter events.
Football soon became his next pursuit. Bolt spent time with Australia’s Central Coast Mariners and scored twice in a 2018 friendly. He later agreed to professional terms, but his stint ended eight weeks afterward. He stepped away from his playing ambitions in early 2019.
Still, Bolt never drifted far from the game. The lifelong Manchester United supporter has regularly competed in Soccer Aid, giving fans occasional reminders of his speed and enthusiasm on the pitch.
Bolt once advised young players to surround themselves with trustworthy people, remain disciplined and continue working even when success takes time.
He closed that 2017 FIFA interview with a fitting personal motto: “Anything is possible.”
At 40, Bolt could soon put that belief to another test. A Sunday league appearance would hardly match an Olympic final, but few athletes could make it feel like a major event.
