Liberty set new 2026 high water mark with comeback win vs. Fever

The New York Liberty came into their game against the Indiana Fever on Saturday looking to extend their current three-game win streak. Early in the game, it looked like the Liberty’s win streak was in jeopardy as they trailed by as many as 12 points. But the Liberty completed the comeback, grabbing a 83-75 victory against the Fever.

The Liberty’s comeback against the Fever was the biggest comeback they’ve had all season, as per Alexa Philippou of ESPN, and coincidentally it was also the biggest blown lead the Fever have had this season. The Liberty’s current win streak is now at four games.

It was All-Star forward Breanna Stewart who led the way for the Liberty, finishing with a game-high 30 points while shooting 6-of-15 from the field and 18-of-21 from the free-throw line. Satou Sabally added 13 points and five rebounds and rookie Pauline Astier dropped 12 points, three rebounds and three assists.

After getting off to an uneven start to the regular season, the Liberty have seemingly turned things around as the team has started to get closer to being 100 percent healthy. They are still missing their star point guard in Sabrina Ionescu who has been limited to only one game this season due to a previous ankle injury and a recent back injury.

The Liberty opted to part ways with head coach Sandy Brondello after last season, and the team is in year one with Chris DeMarco at the helm as the new head coach. With the win against the Fever, the Liberty improved to 7-4 overall and they are currently in second place in the Eastern Conference behind the 7-3 Atlanta Dream.
