Newcastle vs Bournemouth LIVE commentary: Matthias Jaissle’s impressive start put to the test

Newcastle United will look to end a worrying recent record against Bournemouth on Saturday.

The two sides meet at St. James’ Park on Matchday 3 of the new Premier League season.

Matthias Jaissle remains unbeaten following his appointment by the Magpies in the summer.

Having succeeded Eddie Howe in the dugout, the German has picked up a point against Liverpool and won away against Tottenham.

Meanwhile, his compatriot Marco Rose is awaiting his first victory as Bournemouth boss.

The Cherries were denied all three points against Everton last time out after conceding a stoppage time equaliser.

However, Rose can look to an impressive record for his side against their latest opponents for motivation.

Bournemouth are unbeaten in their least eight league meetings with Newcastle dating back to July 2020.

They have not lost to the Magpies since returning to the top-flight in 2022.

This fixture last season also saw the Cherries claim a 2-1 away win on Tyneside back in April.

Jaissle: “It will be the same idea of how we want to play football.

“This is independent of the opponent, we have a clear way, clear identity and I hope the atmosphere will be the same, [just as] emotional, the same energy, definitely, even though the kick-off is a bit earlier, so I also need to adapt to that.”

Rose: “Disappointing [start to the season], but I have to evaluate our performances and we were always close.

“It doesn’t mean we’re happy, but I’m convinced we’re in a good place.”

As for taking on Newcastle, Rose added: “They are in a good spot, in a good shape. They are playing quite intense. They have clear patterns.”
