Jonquel Jones hammers Liberty with NSFW response after loss to lowly Storm

The New York Liberty absorbed their third loss in four outings after getting upset by the Seattle Storm, 99-88, at Climate Pledge Arena on Thursday. The Storm snapped their 11-game losing streak.

Seattle had control for the majority of the game, leading by as much as 16 points in the fourth quarter. The Storm stayed aggressive on defense and bamboozled the Liberty with their high-octane offense.

New York put up a fight in the final period, but it was too late. After the game, Jonquel Jones did not offer any excuses for their embarrassing defeat in what was perceived to be a walk in the park, given Seattle’s record.

Instead, Jones issued a stern message to the squad.

“We have to come out with a certain level of intensity. We have to look in the mirror individually and find ways to be better defensively, first and foremost,” said Jones, as quoted by Liberty reporter Myles Ehrlich.

If that was not enough of a wake-up call, the former Finals MVP turned explicit.

“It’s not about the reps, it’s not about playing time, it’s not about none of that stuff. It’s about having some heart and playing with some f****** heart,” added Jones.

She finished with a team-high 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including three three-pointers, and eight rebounds.

Leonie Fiebich had 19 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while Sabrina Ionescu added 14 points, two rebounds, and five assists.

The Liberty played without Breanna Stewart, who was out due to load management.

New York shot 45% from the floor and was outrebounded, 39-28. Seattle had 13 offensive rebounds. The Storm dominated the Liberty in fastbreak points, 21-4.

The Liberty fell to 12-7, while the Storm improved to 4-15.
