Jake Paul declares ‘war’ on UFC with MVP-PFL merger

A few days ago, celebrity boxer and MVP co-founder Jake Paul caused a major uproar in the combat sports industry. Following the rising success of Paul’s MVP, he announced a merger between MVP and PFL to focus on MMA and sports entertainment in addition to women’s boxing.

Paul and White have a long-standing animosity, with years of public insults exchanged between them. With both now in the same industry, the competition is only going to get tougher. In a recent interview with Bloomberg after the merger, Paul declared a “war” on White’s UFC.

“It’s war as far as I’m concerned. It’s Coke versus Pepsi. It’s Nike versus Adidas. This is exciting,” Paul said while addressing the MVP-PFL vs. UFC situation. Paul had also previously taken a few shots at UFC’s salary structure, while Ronda Rousey directly attacked White paying UFC fighters a low salary ahead of her comeback fight against Gina Carano. Addressing the pay claims, MVP’s co-founder Nakisa Bidarian said, “If you look at other sports, when athletes get a fair share they’re more invested. They’re more committed. The product is better.”

Following the merger, Paul discussed his upcoming MMA debut in 2027 with ESPN SportsCenter and issued a direct challenge to the UFC president. “Dana [White], we’re coming for you, baby,” Paul said. Also at the PFL X MVP merger press conference, Paul addressed the Wall Street Journal’s claims and claimed that he wants to win the fight against the UFC. “Wall Street Journal said that we wanna pick a fight with UFC. Wall Street Journal, we don’t wanna just pick a fight; we wanna win the fight.”
