Jomboy calls out Willson Contreras for at-bat antics leading to Yankees-Red Sox bench clearing
The New York Yankees are at the top of the American League East standings and the Boston Red Sox are at the bottom. However, these two archrivals still feel the passion even though one team is dominating and the other has fallen apart. Despite those differences, the Red Sox have managed to beat the Yankees in the first two games of a four-game series at Fenway Park.

Willson Contreras of the Red Sox homered and drove in two runs in Boston’s 6-1 victory Friday night. He appeared to touch off an incident between the two teams after a base on balls from Will Warren of the Yankees in the fifth inning. After a 3-2 pitch sailed somewhat high and inside, Contreras appeared to shout at Warren as he made his way to first base. After Warren returned a volley at Contreras, the Red Sox first baseman continued to yell at the Yankee pitcher.
As a result, both dugouts and bullpens left their locations and moved onto the field. While nobody appeared to be too upset, it was a scene reminiscent of past Yankee-Red Sox confrontations. No punches were thrown and the potential incident quickly lost whatever steam it had.
Jomboy Media called out Contreras for his role in the incident. Jomboy pointed out that Contreras was not only crowding the plate, but his hands were basically hanging over the dish as well.
The point was made that Warren’s pitches were not thrown close to Contreras and he should not have exacerbated the situation. Contreras regularly crowds the plate and he has already been hit by 14 pitches this season.
