Jared Verse opens up on breaking wild trade to Rams teammates
Jared Verse got to say his farewell to his Los Angeles Rams teammates before starting a new chapter with the Cleveland Browns ahead of the 2026 NFL season.
Verse is preparing for the third season of his career, his first with the Browns. He spent his first two years with the Rams before they traded him, a 2027 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick to the Cleveland Browns for Myles Garrett.
Verse did an interview with CBS about the end of his stint with the Rams. When the trade took place, he requested to tell teammates the news rather than have them find out from outside sources.
“When you spend that much time with each other, you become a very good, very close-knit group. Like obviously, people see what we do on the field together, what we do in the weight room and stuff like that. But they don’t see the late meetings. They don’t see us going out to grab food together. They don’t see people coming to my house just to watch the NBA Finals or do this or do that. All these things that we do that genuinely makes us a family,” Verse said.
“That was my family. Those are people, and those still are my family. Those are my brothers. I love them all to death. They texted me here, there, Puka, Eman, you know, all those guys. I love them to death. I ran in Fisk, and you know Kobe too. But when I got the news broken to me, I was like, I think it’s more important that they hear it from me versus you know getting it booked into them by ESPN.”

What lies ahead for Rams after trading Jared Verse
The Rams will sorely miss having Jared Verse on the team. Despite this, they can look forward to their Super Bowl ceiling with Myles Garrett leading the defense this season.
The Rams will seek to improve upon their 12-5 record from the previous season. They also intend to make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year and reclaim the NFC West title.
Los Angeles will begin its season internationally, travelling to Australia. They take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sept. 10 at 8:35 p.m. ET.
