Jesse Minter gets 100% real about World Cup hero’s camp visit

The Baltimore Ravens completed their third practice of this week with a special guest. On Thursday, Ferran Torres, who scored the winning goal for Spain at the World Cup, visited practice.

He spoke to the players about the importance of patience and persistence. For Minter, it was Torres’ heroics on the world stage that resonate, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.

“Talk about just being ready when your number is called [and] being at your best when your best is needed — that is like the ultimate,” Minter said.

Who would have thought that Torres arrived during a practice that had its moments. After a play, LB Tavius Robinson shoved OT Carson Vinson. No punches were thrown, but Minter had to get everyone together shortly thereafter.

Also, the practice was the longest of the week, lasting 2.5 hours. He orchestrated practice to the point where they engaged in long drives. They completed eight and nine players altogether.

Then, the Ravens’ defensive backs did a drill in which they tackled the coaching interns.

All the while, they played in very hot weather at 92 degrees.

During a scoreless World Cup Final against Argentina, Torres scored at the 106th minute at MetLife Stadium in New York. All the while, Torres conquered the likes of Lionel Messi. In the process, Spain won their first World Cup since 2010 and dethroned the defending champion Argentina.

The Ravens are undergoing a regime change with Minter at the helm. In January, Minter was hired shortly after the firing of John Harbaugh after 18 seasons.
