Knicks’ KAT reacts to Josh Hart’s massive praise for heroic Finals play
It’s been two months, and New York Knicks fans still haven’t come down from their championship high. That’s what winning your first ring in 53 years does to you. New York overcame the odds and knocked down the San Antonio Spurs in five games to capture the championship.
The highlight of their Finals series is, of course, their masterpiece in Game 4. Up 2-1 in the series, the Knicks found themselves down by as much as 29 points after two quarters of play. Victor Wembanyama was taunting the New York players, and they seemed to be in an unbeatable groove. However, the Knicks just chipped away at the lead until they eventually stole the win in the largest comeback in NBA playoffs history.
Jalen Brunson’s heroics will be talked about in this game, and rightfully so. The same goes for OG Anunoby’s miraculous tip-in to win the game. However, there’s one play that’s seemingly flown under the radar: Karl-Anthony Towns’ game-saving stop. With 1.2 seconds left, the Spurs still had some time to draw up a game-winner. The play was for Dylan Harper to lob it up to Stephon Castle for the easy lay-in. However, the Knicks center was able to tip the ball just so slightly, altering the course of the pass. That allowed Josh Hart to recover and smother Castle, sealing the win.

After a post of this highlight went viral, Hart made sure to give KAT props for the play. “Layup? Brother he would have dunked the hell out that ball lol shoutout Kat,” the Knicks guard said in response to a repost saying that Castle would have had an easy layup if not for Towns’ tip-in. Towns reacted to Hart’s comment.

Towns was in the running early in the Finals to win the MVP award after his stellar performance on offense and defense against Victor Wembanyama. While his play tapered off later in the series, the Knicks star remained a crucial part of the team’s game plan. His effort on the defensive end and ability to stretch the floor made him a headache for the Spurs.
