Jets’ Aaron Glenn eases concerns on rookie TE’s injury with timeline update
As New York Jets rookie tight end Kenyon Sadiq has been dealing with an injury ahead of the 2026 season, fans have been waiting for any updates on the star. While there has been a setback for the Jets rookie, head coach Aaron Glenn would ease any concern fans have about Sadiq.
Speaking to the media during New York’s training camp, Sadiq will miss “a couple of weeks,” and while there is a setback after receiving hernia surgery, the outlook is still “pretty good news,” according to Rich Cimini of ESPN. If there was any question about whether the setback could lead to Sadiq missing the first week of the season, Glenn would set the record straight.
“Rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq, who suffered a setback in his recovery from hernia surgery, will miss ‘a couple of weeks,’ coach Aaron Glenn said,” Cimini wrote. “Glenn called it “pretty good news.” This was more detail than he provided Tuesday, when he said Sadiq would be sidelined for “a little bit.” Glenn reiterated that Sadiq, the second of three first-round picks, will be ready for Week 1.”
There is no doubt that there are a lot of high expectations around Sadiq, who was taken with the 16th overall pick by the Jets in the 2026 NFL Draft, as he came out of the University of Oregon. Hoping to see a major part in New York’s offense, now led by quarterback Geno Smith, Sadiq looks to be 100 percent healthy.
At any rate, it remains to be seen how Sadiq will progress throughout training camp, as his status will be monitored ahead of Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 13.
