Aces’ Chelsea Gray sinks cold-blooded 3 at the buzzer to beat Fever in OT

Las Vegas Aces guard Chelsea Gray played the hero on Thursday after sinking a three-pointer at the buzzer to sink the Indiana Fever in overtime, 86-84, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Aces notched their fourth win in five games and improved to 22-9, including 13-4 on the road. The Fever, meanwhile, dropped to 19-12.

After A’ja Wilson stole the ball from Caitlin Clark, the Aces raced to their end of the floor. Gray got the rock and dished it to Jackie Young. Gray quickly got it back, got her feet set, and fired the game-winner, stunning the home crowd.

Aliyah Boston looked Dazed after Gray’s three-pointer.

The 33-year-old guard also sent the game into overtime after burying a three-pointer at the end of regulation. Young also delivered the assist.

Gray finished with 11 points, two rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. She helped put the cuffs on Clark, who had 20 points on 7-of-20 shooting, including 2-of-10 from long distance.

Wilson led the charge anew with a team-high 26 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Jackie Young provided ample support with 22 points, four rebounds, and nine assists.

Gray, Wilson, and Young were named to the roster of Team USA for the FIBA Women’s World Cup in September.

After a tight contest in the first half, the Aces pulled away in the third quarter after they outscored the Fever, 19-9. Indiana, however, refused to fold and clawed back in the fourth quarter, leading to the nail-biting finish.

Kelsey Mitchell topscored for the Fever with 28 points on top of four assists and two steals.
