Carson Beck’s highlight throw has Larry Fitzgerald impressed

Carson Beck walked into the Pro Football Hall of Fame game with history attached to him. The Arizona Cardinals rookie ended up delivering one highlight throw in the NFL’s preseason opener versus the Carolina Panthers. One that impressed incoming HOF inductee Larry Fitzgerald.

The Georgia and Miami star stood in the back of the end zone facing third-and-seven. Wide receiver Jalen Brooks blazed past his cornerback down the right sideline. Beck softly completed the long ball for the biggest gain of the Thursday evening contest. Which also drew claps from the Cardinals icon Fitzgerald.

Beck earned the start over recently re-sign Jacoby Brissett, who new Arizona head coach Mike LaFleur chose to rest. Brissett is the projected regular season opening starter for the new regime. Though he’s awfully familiar with the Cards as he enters season two with the team.

But Beck handled the reins behind center since the National Championship Game. Beck guided the Hurricanes back to the biggest stage of college football for the first time since the 2002 season. But his ‘Canes took the 27-21 loss to a Fernando Mendoza led Indiana Hoosiers bunch, as IU captured its historic first national championship on the football field.

Beck agreed to a $7.4 million contract as part of his rookie deal before leading the Cards out on the field. He now joins a rookie class that features prized weapon at running back Jeremiyah Love, who also took the rest from LaFleur. Zonovan Knight handled the running game duties and led the way with 34 rushing yards with under nine minutes left in the second quarter.

But Beck impressed with completing his first six passes and led a 98-yard drive after that Brooks 35-yard catch.
