Bills’ key vet turns heads at training camp after missing entire 2025 season
The Buffalo Bills escaped with good news after an injury, but they’ve still dealt with fights. Also on the good news side, a key veteran turned heads at training camp after missing the entire 2025 season.
Place-kicker Tyler Bass had an eventful day, according to ESPN.
“A significant first came from kicker Tyler Bass at practice,” Alaina Getzenberg wrote. “Returning after missing the entire 2025 season with a sports hernia, Bass practiced kickoffs and field goals on the main training camp field for the first time this camp. He went 5-of-7, with both misses coming from 45-plus yards. Bass had kicked once in a practice open to the media in the spring.”
Bills PK Tyler Bass trying to work his way back into the groove
The Bills had intentionally held Bass out of kicking in practice. Bass said he appreciated the way the team has worked him back into the fray.
“Just the whole organization, I think, Joe [Brady], Jeff … have done a great job of just integrating me at the right pace,” Bass said. “And just letting me be the best version of myself, and that’s where I’m seeing a lot of growth in.”
A five-year veteran, Bass has connected on 84.5% of his field goals in his career. He has made 131 of 155 attempts. He made the longest kick of his career came in 2024, when he knocked through a 61-yarder. On extra points, Bass has a career mark of 264 for 274.
Bass had a famous miss, failing from 44 yards out in the final two minutes of a 27-24 playoff loss to the Chiefs in the 2023 postseason. Bass said he hit the ball well, according to upi.com.
“I hit a good ball, but it didn’t work out,” Bass said. “I feel terrible. (And) I love this team. This one hurts bad. I gotta do a better job.”
The Bills enter the 2026 season once again harboring Super Bowl dreams. Will they be able to count on Bass if another postseason kick comes up?
