How Kyle Tucker can change Dodgers’ season amid recent struggles

As the Los Angeles Dodgers are on a seven-game losing streak ahead of Saturday’s contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the team is looking for any boost to get the ball club back on track. While there is likely not that much panic from the Dodgers when it comes to the losing skid, the one player who could turn the season around would be a long-overdue awakening.

Former player and MLB analyst Dontrelle Willis would speak on Fox Sports about Kyle Tucker, who has had an underwhelming first year with Los Angeles, recording a .244 batting average to go along with 10 home runs and 52 RBIs in 109 games.

Admitting Tucker’s season has been “up and down,” Willis expressed that getting back to playing with confidence and joy would almost be like making a trade for the Dodgers.

“His season has been up and down, and he understands that,” Willis said. “But if he starts to really get his foot down and play with confidence, play with joy, man, that’s almost like getting a trade. You know what I mean? Because he has not been the Kyle Tucker that we know and love thus far in a Dodger uniform.”

At any rate, it remains to be seen if Tucker can return to his prior production, as there is no doubt frustration from the fanbase as the 29-year-old signed a four-year, $240 million contract in January of this year. Aside from Tucker, Los Angeles looks to snap the seven-game losing streak on Saturday against the Diamondbacks, though the team is still 69-47, putting them first in the NL West.
