Fever’s Kelsey Mitchell makes WNBA history with another 20-point game

The Indiana Fever were able to get a big 90-86 win against the Chicago Sky, and there’s no doubt that they had to compete hard for the entire 40 minutes. It was another big game for Kelsey Mitchell, as she finished the game with 27 points and five rebounds, and with that, she made WNBA history.

It was her 16th straight 20-point game, and it’s the longest single-season scoring streak in history.

Mitchell hit some big shots down the stretch of the game against the Sky, and that’s what the Fever are going to need from her as they continue the season. She’s getting her flowers not only from her teammates, but players across the league are calling her one of the hardest guards to stay in front of.

It makes sense when looking at the speed she possesses, and you never know if she’s going to pull up for a jump shot or blow past you for a layup. The Fever are lucky they don’t have to figure out any of that, and they just follow her lead.

Mitchell isn’t doing it by herself, as Caitlin Clark is also playing some of her best basketball at this point of the season as well. She finished the game with 26 points and 11 assists, and there may be an argument about who’s the best backcourt in the league.

It’s good that the Fever are getting this play from their stars now, because the standings are tight going down the stretch. Every win now would be big for the Fever, and every loss could set them back.

The Fever’s next game will be against the New York Liberty, another team that has found itself trying to stay within the mix of the standings.
