Gary Woodland shares ‘ATM’ admission about playing Scottie Scheffler on PGA Tour

Not only is Scottie Scheffler the World’s top golfer, but he is first in the FedEx Cup standings, coming off a solid tournament last weekend and a win two weeks prior to the Tour Championship starting Thursday. He is the talk of the town leading up to the tournament for obvious reasons.

Scheffler is not shy of winning big tournaments in the Peach State. The 2026 Tour Championship is at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia, where Tommy Fleetwood was crowned 2025 champion. Scheffler has won the Masters twice in Augusta and the 2024 Tour Championship here in the ATL. 2024 was a massive year for Scheffler, and he looks to end on top once again.

One player who is all too familiar with the acts of the Dallas, Texas native is Gary Woodland. Woodland, who had an incredible victory earlier this season at the Texas Children’s Houston Open. On Wednesday, he discussed his relationship with Scheffler and the “ATM” stories about their play in Dallas.

“I’ve never beaten Scottie in Dallas,” Woodland said. “He asks me if I just hand him money every time he sees me, and unfortunately that is the case when we have been in Dallas. He is hard to beat there. Back in Memphis, I was giving him a hard time about how he can’t finish and couldn’t handle the pressure. He parred the last three holes and shot 60 one day. That did not work for Si-Woo (Kim) and I; he is hard to beat out here.”

Woodland was then asked about the game they play, and Woodland responded: “We play a 100 a hole… I have had to go to the ATM a couple of times playing in Dallas.”
